Giving Tuesday, which falls on November 27th this year, is a global day of giving. This is the perfect time to show some love and support the music organizations you are most passionate about. Ignited by global activism, Giving Tuesday began as way to combat the consumerism of Cyber Monday and Black Friday and has asked folks to think about growing our communities and supporting those that need the most help.
Support your favorite music organizations this #GivingTuesday and help keep our music communities strong!
Consider donating to the following:
1. Your local school music program
Even if they’re not doing a #GivingTuesday campaign, what better way to support music education than in your home town!
Check out this great example of how a local band is using Giving Tuesday to help their program.
2. Music nonprofits in your city or state
Music nonprofits often provide lessons and additional instruction to young people who don't have music classes in school, as well as to adults and under-served populations.
In our hometown of Boston, there are number of awesome music nonprofits that are doing great work like Zumix, Community Music Center of Boston, and Music & Youth!
3. Religious music programs
Do you belong to a religious organization, such as a church or synagogue, that has a music program? Donate to support music in all areas of your life!
4. Your state’s music educators association
Music educators associations support music teachers at all points in their careers. Many of these organizations, like the MMEA, provide scholarships to future music educators!
5. A nation-wide music nonprofit
National organizations like NAfME, the American Choral Directors Association, the American String Teachers Association, or the National Band Association, reach people across the country. Consider giving to a nation-wide music organization to spread the gift of music across the United States.
Happy Giving Tuesday!
