Osaka Castle, which began construction in 1583, is

Osaka Castle, which began construction in 1583, is one of Japan's most famous landmarks. Built on the former site of the Ishiyama Honganji Temple, it was designed with intentions of becoming the center of a new, unified Japan.

Construction was completed in 1597, but the castle was destroyed by Tokugawa troops less than two decades later in 1615. The present-day ferro-concrete reconstruction of the castle tower was not completed until 1931.

Revered to this day as the most talented cellist in history, Pau Casals started to record the Six Bach Cello Suites in 1936, the same year he was exiled from Spain, never to return.

Join us tomorrow (9/24) at 4:00 PM EST as we learn more about Casals' incredible life, including his version of The Song of the Birds, which is often considered a symbol of Catalonia.

Following the tremendous loss of life in WW1, Germ

Following the tremendous loss of life in WW1, Germany faced a number of challenges including massive debt, record-breaking levels of inflation, loss of territory, and so much more.

As the nation tried to look past it's dire future, they focused on the present. Seeking distraction, citizens began exploring the arts and humanities as they flocked to cinemas, theatres, cabarets, and nightclubs. This period, often referred to as the Golden Twenties, inspired many incredible artistic achievements in film, theatre, and music.

In last week's Encore Live event, Tour Manager Markus Stuckelberger examined how Mack the Knife, a song from Kurt Weill's "The Threepenny Opera" reflected this unique time in history.
